What is Medicare? Medicare will be your health insurance for the rest of your life. It is a Federal Insurance program administered by the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) for those who are: 65 or older Disabled for 24 months or more Diagnosed with End State Renal Disease (kidney failure)  Original Medicare is divided into two parts, Part A and Part B. However, Medicare was never intended to pay 100% of your medical costs. You can choose different ways to fill in the gaps of your Medicare coverage. Most people choose either Original Medicare with a Medicare Supplement or a Medicare Advantage Plan (like an HMO or PPO). If you choose Original Medicare and you want drug coverage, you can join a Medicare Prescription Drug Plan. If you choose to join a Medicare Advantage Plan, the plan may include Medicare prescription drug coverage. In most cases, if you don’t make a choice, you will have Original Medicare.
